  • Social Pane controls available without Append To privilege

… Users that do not have the Append To privilege on the entity should not see the controls to add activities on the entity form Social Pane. Currently such users can see the controls "Add Phone Call", "Add Task", etc. in the social pane and can attempt to create an activity. They of course get the permissions error message when they try to save the activity record, however that is too late, they have already gone through all the work of typing up the activity details, e.g. Email, essentially they have done the work we do not want them to do. The exact same scenario works as expected for the traditional associated views. You do not see the controls to create activities if you navigate to the associated views in exact the same test. We do not want to use the associated views as users like the social pane a lot, and going back to associated views feels like going back to and old version. I hope this can be rectified in the near future. This was tested on CRM …

  • Ability to intuitively resize the Social Pane

… Following the steps here* work but it's certainly convoluted... :) Referring to step 5 in the linked blog, can't the label be hidden and number of rows to be used be exposed by default instead?* https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/nakedcrm/archive/2013/05/15/resizing-the-social-pane-in-polaris1. Select the Social Pane section and click remove in the ribbon2. Add a new section in its place3. Highlight the section and in the insert ribbon tab click on insert note4. This is in fact not just the note but the activity posts, activities and notes5. Now this is the trial and error stage of the process as you have one attempt before the area becomes locked down again and you have to start from step 1 again! Click on change properties of the notes area, select hide label, and then change the number of columns and rows to be used. I would recommend using 1 column and around 8 to 10 rows.6. Click OK and save7. Now preview the form and you will notice that the notes area is in the fact the social pane component.8. You will also notice that you can no longer change the properties of the notes area, so if you …

  • Activity Pane displays Modified On Date in the records instead of the Created On date

… Scenario 1 :-1. Import an email record into CRM Organization with the Created Date set to 5 days ago. For example current date is 10/30/2015, the email's Created On date would be 10/25/2015. Make sure that you "Set Regard" it to an contact record.2. Post importing of the email record, open the Regarding contact record.3. In the Social Pane, select the Activities tab.4. Here you will see the date mentioned below the Email record is today i.e. the date when the record was imported to the organization and not the original email creation date.Scenario 2 :-1. Open an older email in the CRM organization under Sales -> Activities -> Emails -> All Emails2. Set regard it with any Account, Contact, Lead record (Record that contains Social Pane on the form).3.Once you set regard it, you will find that the date mentioned under the email is of Today instead of the older date. Conclusion :- The Social Pane grabs the date when the record was modified or imported into the organization. It seems to be that the latest date of the record from the ActivityBasePointer table is rendered in the Social Pane and the Created On date is disregarded. …
