The Bing Maps Team has been sending out emails that the Bing Maps V7 control is being deprecated on June 30, 2017. I hope Microsoft already has this on their radar as this is only 3.5 months away. Here are some important highlights from their email:

As announced in June 2016, end of life for Bing Maps AJAX V7 Control (V7) and SOAP Web Services offerings will take place on June 30, 2017.

Action: Migrate to Bing Maps Version 8 Control (V8) before June 30, 2017.

After June 30, support for the V7 control will end and service availability will no longer be guaranteed. To help avoid any unforeseen complications arising from migrating last minute, we encourage you to migrate to the V8 control prior to June.

Support
Our team is here to assist you with the transition from V7 to V8 and has developed resources to help guide you through the process.

Status Details

Thank you for your suggestion.  We understand the importance of providing an update to Bing Maps before the old API is deprecated.

Sincerely,
Shan McArthur
PM, Microsoft

  • Reminder:
Bing Maps AJAX Control v7 and v6.x shutdown on July 31st 2017

As announced in June 2016, the end of service of the Bing Maps AJAX Control v7 was scheduled to take place on June 30th, 2017. We have extended that date to July 31st, 2017 to give our customers more time to migrate to Bing Maps Web Control v8[msdn.microsoft.com]. We see that your Bing Maps account is still using Bing Maps AJAX Control v7 (or Bing Maps AJAX Control v6.x), so we want to make sure your organization is aware of this end of service plan.

Action: Migrate from the Bing Maps AJAX Control v7 and v6.x to Bing Maps Web Control v8 before July 31st, 2017. You will find Bing Maps AJAX Control v7 and v6.x migration guidance at https://www.microsoft.com/maps/discon-control-migrat-guide.aspx[microsoft.com].

If your company is planning to migrate off the Bing Maps AJAX Control v7 and v6.x by July 31st, 2017 then you can disregard this reminder.

To ensure you have migrated please view your Bing Maps transaction usage reports by key and by API at the Bing Maps Dev Center (https://www.bingmapsportal.com[bingmapsportal.com]) for your Bing Maps account.  Documentation on the Bing Maps transaction usage reports can be found at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff859477.aspx[msdn.microsoft.com].  For Bing Maps Dev Center login support please contact Bing Maps Account Admin Support Team at mpnet@microsoft.com.
